Supply Chain Policy

We, egf – Eduard G. Fidel GmbH, are a certified member of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) and commit ourselves to the responsible sourcing of minerals within our supply chain with the following policy:

  • We respect human rights in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Labour Organization and the Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.

  • We do not accept bribes; neither do we offer, promise or demand them, and we oppose any attempt at bribery or corruption. We do not engage in or tolerate money laundering or terrorist financing.

  • We support the traceability and transparency of state payments and legally compliant security forces in the extractive industry.

  • We do not provide direct or indirect support to illegal armed groups.

  • We enable both internal and external stakeholders to speak up at any time regarding concerns in the Jewellery supply chain and have an email address on our website for this purpose. Any attempt to prevent or suppress concerns or complaints will be considered a violation of this guideline and will be punished accordingly.

  • We fully observe the 5 points of the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas.

  • The current annual report and other interesting information (sustainability, activities, etc.) can be viewed on our website at any time.

Risk management: bribery, corruption, fraudulent misrepresentation of origin, money laundering, payment of taxes, fees and levies to governments

We are committed to using our influence to prevent abuse by others. We work with suppliers, central or local government authorities, international organisations, civil society and stakeholders to improve and monitor cooperation to prevent or mitigate risks and their negative impacts altogether through traceable and measurable steps in reasonable timeframes.
We regularly carry out assessments of our suppliers.

If attempts to limit the damage fail, we will either suspend or completely terminate the cooperation with sub-suppliers.

Risk management: Serious violations

We do not source raw materials from conflict or high-risk areas and will neither condone nor benefit from the following actions:

  • Torture, cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment
  • Forced or compulsory labour
  • Worst forms of child labour
  • Human rights violations and abuses
  • War crimes, violations of international humanitarian law, crimes against humanity or genocide

We will immediately terminate cooperation with sub-suppliers if we identify or suspect a reasonable risk that they are committing such serious violations or are sourcing from or associated with a party committing such abuses.

Risk management: Direct or indirect support to non-state armed groups

We do not tolerate direct or indirect support to non-state armed groups through the mining, transport, trade, handling or export of minerals. We do not tolerate illegal control of mine sites, control of supply routes, illegal taxation or extortion of money or intermediary suppliers.

We will suspend or immediately terminate cooperation with suppliers if we identify or suspect a reasonable risk that they are supplied by or otherwise associated with a party that directly or indirectly supports non-state armed groups.

Risk management: Public or private security forces

We strongly empathize that the role of public or private security forces is to ensure the security of staff, facilities, equipment and property in accordance with the rule of law, including laws guaranteeing human rights.
We will not provide direct or indirect support to public or private security forces that commit the abuses described in 'Risk Management: Serious Violations' or act illegally.

Risk management: Bribery, corruption, fraudulent misrepresentation of origin

We do not accept bribes; offer, promise or solicit them; or resist solicitation of bribes to conceal or disguise the origin of materials or to misrepresent taxes, fees and royalties paid to governments for the purpose of extracting, trading, handling, transporting or exporting gold, silver or platinum.

Risk management: Non-compliance with legal requirements in the area of environment and sustainability

Our suppliers must respect and comply with national laws, international regulations and recommendations of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the field of environment and sustainability in the use of natural resources.

Should we find violations in this area, we will suspend or immediately terminate cooperation with the suppliers concerned If we discover violations in this area, we will endeavor to improve the situation. If these attempts to limit the damage fail, we will suspend our cooperation with this affected suppliers or end it immediately.

Money laundering

We will support and contribute to efforts to eliminate money laundering where we identify an appropriate risk arising from or associated with the mining, trading, handling, transportation or export of gold, silver or platinum.
